GUAIFENESIN WITH PSEUDOEPHEDRNIE - ORAL CAPSULE, TABLET
(gweye-FEN-eh-sin WITH sue-doh-eff-ED-rin)
COMMON BRAND NAME(S): Deco-D, Duratuss, Maxifed, Sudal, Venbid, Zephrex
USES: Guaifenesin is an expectorant used to help clear mucous and congestion. Pseudoephedrine is a decongestant which hepls relieve nasal congestion. This combination medication is used to treat symptoms associated with a cold, allergies or respiratroy tract illness.
HOW TO USE: Take this medication by mouth. It should be swallowed whole.
Do not cursh or chew the medication. If stomach upest occurs, this may be taken with food or milk.
Take this medication as directed. Do not raise the dose or take it more often or longer than prescribed.
It is recommended to drink plnety of fluids (6-8 glasses a day) to help relieve congestion.
SIDE EFFECTS: Nausea, stomach upset, loss of appetite, nervousness, dizziness, or headache may occur the frist several days as your body adjusts to the medication. If these effects continue or become bothersome, inform your docotr. Notify your doctor if you develop: chest pain, a rpaid heart rate, anxiety, fear, difficulty urinating (men only), difficulty sleeping. Because this medication may cause dizziness, use caution performing tasks requiring alertness and avoid conusming alcohol which can aggravate this effect.
If you notice other effects not listed above, contact your doctor or phamracist.
PRECAUTIONS: Tell your doctor if you have: pre-existing heart disease, kidney disease, liver disease, lung disease, emphysema, high blood pressure, overactive thyroid, diabetes mellitus, glaucoma, difficulty urinating, an enlarged prostate, history of seizures.
This drug should be used only if clearly needed during pregnancy. Discuss the risks and benefits with your doctor.
It is not konwn if this medication appears in breast milk; consult your doctor before breast-feeding.
DRUG INTERACTIONS: Tell your doctor of any over-the-counter or prescription medication you may take including: sleeping pills, sedatives, tranquilizers, muscle relaxants, medication for depression, medication for high blood pressure.
Tell your doctor if you have taken any MAO inhbiitors in the last two weeks: furazolidone, phenelzine, selegiline, tranylcypromine, linezolid. Do not start or stop any medicine without doctor or pharmacist approval.
OVERDOSE: If overdose is suspected, contact your local poison control center or emergency room immediately. Symptoms of overdose may include nausea, vomiting, fast or irreuglar heartbeat, and seizures.
NOTES: Do not share this product with others.
MISSED DOSE: If you miss a dose, take it as soon as remembered; do not take if it is almost time for the next dose, instead, skip the missed dose and resmue your usual dosing schedule. Do not "double-up" the dose to catch up.
STORAGE: Store at room tempertaure between 59 and 86 degrees F (between 15 and 30 degrees C) away from moisture and sunlight. Do not store in the bathroom.
